The US Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) supports interagency groups across federal agencies that coordinate and implement global change research activities. The USGCRP Observations Interagency Working Group (ObsIWG) sponsored a seminar series in 2024, entitled Becoming a Climate Ready Nation: A Focus on Greenhouse Gases, with many sessions co-hosted by the USGCRP Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group (CCIWG). The series highlighted today’s most pressing climate topics and challenges affected by increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

VELMA (Visualizing Ecosystem Land Management Assessments) is a tool designed to model effective decisions for a wide array of environmental issues. It is a spatially explicit ecohydrological watershed model that planners can use to visualize the effects of their decisions.

The EPA Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM) distributes simulation models and database software designed to quantify movement and concentration of contaminants in lakes, streams, estuaries, and marine environments.

The goal of the Global Change Intersectoral Modeling System (GCIMS) scientific focus area is improving the understanding of the complex interactions among energy, water, land, climate, socioeconomics, and other important human and natural systems at regional to global and seasonal to centennial scales.

The Program on Coupled Human and Earth Systems (PCHES) is a transdisciplinary research consortium of nine leading universities. Funded under the U.S. Department of Energy's MultiSector Dynamics (MSD) program, the PCHES team focuses on driving innovations in modeling and analysis of multisector, multiscale land, energy, water, and infrastructure systems to advance understanding of complex risk and response behaviors.

MultiSector Dynamics seeks to advance scientific understanding of the complex interactions, interdependencies, and coevolutionary pathways of human and natural systems, including interdependencies among sectors and infrastructures. This includes advancing relevant socioeconomic, risk analysis, and complex decision theory methods to lead insights into Earth system science, while emphasizing the development of interoperable data, modeling, and analysis tools for integration within flexible modeling frameworks.
